Melissa’s college days at Marymount Manhattan College were special for another reason:
it was where she met her husband, Winston Beigel. Melissa and Winston became writing partners during their time in college. Melissa shared in an interview. After they graduated, they both worked as waiters while looking for acting jobs. To keep busy, they decided to write a one-woman show for Melissa. This show changed everything for Melissa.
